The Royal Arms of Edward I Heater Shield is constructed of 18 gauge steel and made for light training in re-enactments. Its blazon is officially Gules, three lions passant guardant in pale or armed and langued azure, meaning three identical gold lions (also known as leopards) with blue tongues and claws, walking and facing the observer, arranged in a column on a red background. Three majestic lions adorn the front. This particular lion is called "lion passant" which is a lion walking, with the right fore paw raised and all others on the ground. Lions generally represent courage, valor, and strength. These lions lie on a red background meaning Eagerness to serve his country as a warrior and martyr. Heater shields were the primary battlefield accompaniment of knights throughout the latter middle ages. This high quality reproduction offered a great deal of protection to the bearer then and now. Hand painted by expert craftsmen, this shield looks great on the wall or in hand.
