Posted by SwordsSwords on Feb 14th 2019

Similar to many Western states creating movies and TV sequences inspired by their culture, Japan often digs into its history for entertainment productions. Among the popular genres in Japanese TV sequence and anime is the samurai historic drama. Since they differ from pure fantasy to almost factually accurate, there are some famous productions to choose from. Some of the samurai anime series are comedy whereas others are more melodramatic and tragic. Let’s walk through a popular list of must-watch anime series especially if you are anime sword enthusiast.

Tokyo Ghoul

This is a well-known story of Ken Kaneki, a reserve university student who liked a girl at his local coffee shop. Finally, when he asked her, his imaginations crushed when he came to know that the girl is a ghoul who tries to eat him. He gets injured at a construction site and while she was about to give him a finishing blow, a steel beam falls onto her. As soon as they rushed to a neighboring hospital, the doctor transplants her organs to save Kaneki’s life. Soon, Kaneki starts revealing the tendencies of a ghoul and the suspense continues.

Kaze no Stigma

Kazuma Yagami was expatriate by his family members since he was unable to use fire magic. Shortly, he returned to his family revealing the power of controlling the wind. He defeats his father and continues to deal with ongoing issues while supporting the family which he initially hated.

Attack on Titan

The prominent character of the story isn’t OP. Though as the story continues, he becomes almost unchallenged in both strength and power. The story is about a huge kingdom residing in 50-meter walls. The walls are built for the presence of Titans who are giant humanoid creatures. Later, a giant titan who is about 60 meters tall develops a major opening in the external wall letting Titans access the insides of the walls. Eren, the MC, has his mother murdered and vows to destroy all Titans.

Fairy Tail

This wildly famous anime follows the adventures of five teens who join a wizarding association that somewhat is like an animal house of modern magical society. They continue to worsen their guild’s repute. Featuring a complete set of wacky character, Fairy Tail does have another serious side but it primarily proceeds like the one piece of magical anime. You will surely love this!

Gurren Lagann

This fast-paced anime is known for its wide-ranging plot, stunning animation, take no inmates plot twists, and the character development. Even though many anime sequences in the mecha category often tend to turn off novices due to all the conversation about gigantic robots, Gurren knows how to drop in the middle of the action. At the same time, it gets you emotionally invested prior to knowing what’s on. Even if you are not fond of Japanese sci-fi tropes, this series is pretty impressive.

Rurouni Kenshin

Kenshin is the godfather of a population of nomadic lone anime swordsmen. It’s great to see the comeback he achieved in recent years. For devotees who have seen the live-action film versions but haven’t had a chance to adore the slow-burning 90s anime, here is the best chance. You may assume that Kenshin would feel dated in all these years, but the understanding of these tropes and character just proved the way Samurai is everlasting. There are thousands of great anime out there and therefore comparing one against the other is almost impossible.
