Deadpool 2: Back To It | Review

Are you thinking that you just know what the Deadpool sequel is going to about? Stop right there… Because what you are thinking, this is so much bigger and more fun than the last. Ryan Reynolds is back with a bang to play the role of Deadpool a.k.a Wade Wilson. The Merc with a Mouth, all set for taking out the baddies, exacting vengeance and making his place in the transitive platform of the X-Men universe. This time, it puts together a task force in order to stop the time traveling, mysterious guy named Cable. That’s the gist of the trailer. If you take Terminator as the ice-cream and John Wick as the sprinkles, that is what Deadpool 2 is in essence. The vibes you get from the sequel is a great thing. This movie is a satisfying ride, where along the way you will find many surprises and a larger set up for the X-Men universe.
Why watch it though? Because it's all Ryan Reynolds, Ryan Reynolds, Josh Brolin and of course Ryan Reynolds.
The reason why Deadpool just keeps on piling fame and success is the self-awareness, the sequel waits for no one or nothing, and dive headfirst into the self-awareness part. There was even a time when the idea of a solo Deadpool movie seemed impossible. But look at it now… It’s become a great hit! Who would have guessed! With all those heartbreaking tales from Logan to Avengers: Infinity Wars, Deadpool 2 is certainly an emotional relief. But it has its emotional beats as well. Reynolds really brings out the character of Deadpool and totally nails it. Other than starring as Deadpool, Reynolds also co-wrote the script. The original cast of Deadpool returns along with a few new additions and many surprises in form of cameos. If you were one of those who enjoyed the 2016 Deadpool, you will definitely love this one. You’ll get to witness Deadpool try and fail at joining the X-Men. If you have seen Avengers: Infinity War and enjoyed the role of Thanos played by Josh Brolin, then you’ll also be able to enjoy him as a different comic character in Deadpool 2, because he is quite similar. Even if Deadpool 2 is the first movie you are watching, you won’t be confused, but it will help if you watch the first part.
What’s the big thing about Deadpool? Ryan Reynolds of course, Josh Brolin, along with many surprise appearances and amazing cameos… and so so so much more! You don’t want to miss it!
Be it Marvel or DC, both go hand-in-hand, there is no way if someone watches Fox productions, it is highly likely that the same person watches the Disney/Marvel productions. So you mus the all the superhero characters from both ends. So we can say here, that just like Robert Downey Jr. was just made for the part of Iron Man, and Hugh Jackman was meant for Wolverine, Deadpool is the holy grail of Ryan Reynolds. He literally is the life force of the Deadpool franchise, making both the movies a fun ride for the viewers. Even with the gawky moments, Reynolds effortlessly manages to light up the screen. Makes you wonder how many of the Disney/Marvel jokes were improvised by Reynolds, even though he does get the screenwriting credits. The second personality that takes the spotlight is Brolin. In Deadpool, his gauntlet from Avengers: Infinity War is replaced with Bucky Barnes’ metal arm and a very charred teddy bear. There is no doubt that Brolin is all over the place. He is definitely the big thing this summer, he even has another movie coming up, Sicario: Day of the Soldado. Brolin’s character’s entire comic routine is ripped off from the Terminator, where a cyborg time travels to save the future, interestingly, Deadpool fully acknowledges the analogy with that movie. There is even a bit of John Wish and a pinch of Speed.
He certainly makes you feel sorry for Deadpool!
Another huge part of Deadpool is the commitment of the marketing team. They really did avoid giving any hints on what the movie would be about. Neither the trailers nor the posters gave off any vibe of the story-line. If you aren’t looking forward to watching the movie because you think you already know what is going to happen, then you are absolutely wrong. There are many surprising cameos, the very least expected and many other unexpected outcomes, we aren’t going to spoil that for you though, you really have to watch it. Even the synopsis that Fox released was not real, all fake, which probably was written by Ryan Reynolds as a joke, or maybe it was all Deadpool’s doing!
The marketing team totally spoofed Michelangelo’s “The Creation of Adam”, who could even guess the plot of the movie with that!
We are not going to tell you if Deadpool 2 is better than the original or not, we will let you decide that for yourself. But we can guarantee that there are moments and sequences in the movie that are top notch compared to the 2016 Deadpool. But let us tell you this, Deadpool 2 starts and ends on some serious high notes. And there is that Celine Dion’s music “Ashes”. the song is played in a totally Bond-style opening. This really does say a lot, maybe Reynolds is looking forward to getting the best song Oscar nod. But let’s be open here if Suicide Squad can pull it off, so can these guys! But but but… the best part is yet to come! Don’t leave your seat as soon as the credits start people. The biggest highlight of the movie is definitely at the end of the credits. We believe that must have been the most satisfying scene for Ryan Reynolds to have filmed. That very scene is going to have you wondering what is going to happen next… Will there be another big blockbuster coming out? Or maybe another sequel? Or even a crossover? You’ll just have to watch it. This time around, Reynolds had a free hand to stretch his creative muscles. And it seems to have been a success because Fox has really realized Deadpool to be worthy enough to be a part of the larger X-Men properties. If you are a fan, you will definitely notice that Deadpool has put some serious groundwork for the future X-Men movies and spin-offs. If you carefully watch the movie, you will see a connection to Fox’s new movie “New Mutants” and even Cable’s entrance points towards a bigger theme and problems that likely to be addressed in the future X-Men installments. Overall Verdict: It is pretty obvious, even if the movie wasn't dragged down, there was a lot of world-building going on. However, you come in for Deadpool and stay for Brolin. We guarantee that Deadpool will have you laughing, she a few tears, and make you laugh some more again, and by the very end of the movie, you’ll probably end up with a stomach-ache with all that laughter.
