Origami Throwing Star

There are different types of throwing stars, which include four-point stars etc. We will be helping you in making an eight-point throwing star, it is a little advanced, but the result is very satisfying!

What you need:

  • Eight square sheets of origami paper

Directions:

  • Fold the sheet of paper in half. Unfold, and fold the outer edges to meet the center crease.
  • Fold it in half. Fold the right top corner down so it meets the bottom edge. The left bottom corner should meet the top edge.
  • Now, take the points, both upwards and downwards, to form two large triangle shape. This will be the base of the ninja star.
  • For the folding of the second paper, follow the first step for the ninja starbase.
  • Fold it in half, the top right corner should be folded down to meet the bottom edge.
  • Make an upward fold from the previous fold, so that a triangle shape is created.
  • Take the other side of the paper and fold it down to create a rectangle.
  • Place the two models together in such a way that they crisscross.
  • Fold three of the points inwards and tuck them in the center flap. With this, we will have the rectangle part sticking out.
  • Now fold the rectangle part, and make a sharp crease.
  • Fold the outer edge of the rectangle so that it meets the center of the rectangle.
  • Now just repeat steps 1-9 so that you get 4 of these models.
  • Place two of the model on top of one another in such manner that the rectangle flaps cross each other.
  • Fold one rectangle flap under the other.
  • Continue adding the models in a pinwheel pattern, till a star shape is achieved.
  • Flatten the creases.
Voila! Your very own origami ninja throwing star is complete! Now, let’s try another tool.

Origami Ninja Dagger

This is an easy way to make a knife and it provides a real paper version of the real deal.

What you need:

  • Two large square sheets of construction paper

Directions:

  • Diagonally fold one sheet in half, to form a triangle.
  • Fold the same sheet in half, again diagonally to form a smaller triangle.
  • Unfold the previous fold. Fold one of the side flaps to meet at the center.
  • Now fold the same flap over twice so that you get a dagger shape.
  • Fold the tip in the pocket of the dagger.
  • Roll out a narrow tube with the help of the second sheet of paper. 1/3 of it should go inside the pocket of the dagger.
  • Flatten out the upper part of the tube so that the handle is made. Fold it so that a right angle is made.
  • Make one other right angle so that the dagger’s handle is continued.
  • Further, you need to make two more of the right angle creases to complete the handle of the dagger.
  • Tuck the tip of the dagger handle to the beginning of the first right angle fold.
  • In case the folds aren’t tight enough to hold the handle, you can use a small piece of clear tape to hold it in place.
