There are many tales and legends that take us back to finding the historical origin of the Sword. What is a sword exactly? It is a weapon with a long metal blade and hilt with a handguard. Thrusting, striking, and incapacitating an enemy are main purposes of swords. A sword can have one blade in most cases e.g. the Samurai and two blades swords e.g. during the Roman era. The Roman Kingdom has a more accurate version of the blade, based on shape and overall structure. The sword evolved from the dagger which had a double blade. The oldest sword-like weapons originated and evolved in Arslantepe, Turkey. They date as early as 3300 B.C. Before China's gun implementation in the 12th century; Swords, Trebuchets, and Arrows were the main battle weapons.

Historic sword construction materials

Swords have developed over the many years into Carbon Steel and Stainless Steel Blades. Arsenic Copper was a popular material to make the first Swords. These had an extremely low density and often lead to plenty of breakage. Tin-Bronze was also used to construct swords. It is not very durable but is generally lighter than other metals used. As time progressed in history, the quality of the Sword did as well. One of the most notable swords in history is the Katana, which the Samurai and ninjas preferred. The other styles of swords like the Wakizashi and the Tachi also gained recognition. But Only the most talented swordsmen wielded the Katana. Tamahagane was particularly used to construct Katanas used by the Japanese Samurai. It is a very high carbon steel. The art of folding each piece of steel was one of the most delicate of processes and made the Samurai unique in every aspect. This is one of many reasons why the Katana is notable in the history of swords.
