Cohort I was made up of the elite troops in the Roman Legion. Its direct commander was the Primus Pilus, the highest ranking and most respected of all the Centurions. The sword of choice was the Roman gladius. The locket of these swords had rings for carrying it with a Roman baldric just like this one. This baldric is handmade right down to the stitching. It is constructed of fine quality tanned and treated genuine leather. Each loop unscrews to hook around the scabbard rings of a Roman gladius. Legionaries wore their gladius on the right side, in contrast to officers, who wore it on the left. Keep your gladius at your side with this baldric as it is adjustable with a solid brass buckle.
